Celebrate Taste the Island with us!

Thanks to our talented artisan producers, incredible natural ingredients on our doorstep and award-winning restaurants and cafés, the island of Ireland is probably one of the most talked-about food destinations in Europe right now. To celebrate, we’re showcasing the flavours of Ireland across a three-month celebration (September – November) with a series of unique experiences, food markets, tours, festivals and events called Taste the Island. Here we take a closer look and some of the can’t miss festivals.

Dingle Food Festival

With County Kerry’s wild and wonderful Dingle Peninsula as the backdrop, the Dingle Food Festival is a treat for the eyes and the tastebuds. The epitome of wild Atlantic charm, Dingle is a seaside haven with ocean-fresh seafood and welcoming locals. One of the highlights of this foodie festival is The Taste Trail, a smorgasbord of tasty dishes offered up in pubs, cafés, restaurants, art galleries and shops throughout the town. Pair that with wine tasting, gastronomy workshops and live music and you’re onto a winner.

Taste Causeway

The Causeway Coast and Glens of Antrim don’t just offer up amazing views – it’s also known for its incredible food and drink experiences, where visitors can trace the taste from farm to fork and from harbour to plate. The Taste Causeway festival involves themed nights, taster menus, cookery classes and food tours. Soak up the atmosphere at the Portrush Beer Festival, then stop by the Causeway Hotel and to tuck into local food and drink at the free-to-enter Northern Ireland Potato Festival.

Savour Kilkenny

In Kilkenny city, medieval and modern meet to create an urban area bursting with culture, creativity and charisma. At Savour Kilkenny, devour mouthwatering food at an outdoor market in the shadow of handsome Kilkenny Castle. Or immerse yourself in the spirit of the festival with beekeeping classes, an organic orchard distillery tasting tour or a Savour Kilkenny by Bicycle tour.

Púca Festival

Did you know that Ireland is the birthplace of Halloween? Celebrate the spooky season in all its ghoulish glory at the inaugural Púca Festival! Counties Meath and Louth will brim with paranormal activity including haunting performances, costumed creatures and hair-raising ghost stories. Get your foodie fix at the Púca Food and Craft Market in Trim, where you can enjoy the harvest bounty.

Armagh Georgian Festival

Calling all Jane Austen-era fans! The Armagh Georgian Festival is the place to be. Beginning in late November, Armagh city’s ancient streets come to life with costumed performers, street entertainment and market stalls laden with local artisanal food and drink. For a slice of opulence, book your tickets for the Great Georgian Banquet in The Palace – home of the late Archbishop Robinson, and the man who pioneered the city’s gorgeous Georgian architecture centuries ago.

Taste of Dublin: Festive Edition

There’s no better way to kickstart the Christmas season than sampling the seasonal flavours and artisanal foods at Taste of Dublin: Festive Edition in the RDS. With twinkling lights, Christmas carols and the smell of mulled wine in the air, you can indulge in delicious dishes from Dublin’s top restaurants, upskill with interactive masterclasses and purchase tasty products made by passionate food producers.
